If you took part in the most recent £161 EuroMillions lottery and you were hoping to retire early – keep that day job. The lottery was won last night by a single ticket holder in Britain and it was the biggest ever win in the EuroMillions draw.
Lucky Winner
The winner, who has not yet come forward with his or her identity, correctly predicted the five main numbers – and the two Lucky Stars. The incredible payout for this lottery ticket has catapulted the winner into the 418th place in the UK richest people list.
To put the win into perspective – the winner is now almost as wealthy as the Beckhams who have a fortune of about £165 million.
Amazing News
The jackpot became so large after a number of rollovers, and it was then capped at this amount. As a National Lottery spokesman said, “This is amazing news. We are absolutely delighted that a UK ticket holder has scooped the entire €185million jackpot, which at the current exchange rate is a massive £161 million. This is the biggest winner this country and Europe has ever seen and follows hot on the heels of the anonymous ticket-holder who last October scooped £113m.”
They went on to say that,
“We’ve got the champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the ticket-holder or holders into the National Lottery millionaires’ club.”
Grand Total Equals…
The lucky winner will actually walk away with £161,653,000 and two other lucky players will get £1.7 million after they matched five numbers and one Lucky Star.
The last person to win anywhere near this amount was in 2009 as part of Italy’s SuperEnalotto where the winner walked away with £128.3million.
If you want to hit yourself for not answering correctly, last night’s numbers were 19, 17, 42, 45, 38 and the Lucky Stars were 09 and 10.
Sales at the last minutes before the lottery ended surpassed three million tickets per hour, as players ran to get into the mix and to hope for the winning ticket.
