June has been unseasonably hot in France. The last overheating record came in 2003 but that was August. It is so dramatic that Paris for the first time is banning gas guzzlers due to the triggering of an ozone alert by this heat.
The question is, what will this mean for EU policy makers? How will the European Union meet the commitment to “go carbon neutral by 2050” with this kind of activity? If France is not even able to get to its CO2 targets, what lesson does this present for the rest of Europe?
